Our Story

Founded 2003, Depot Bar & Grill is a culmination of all things managing partner Doug Voise has learned throughout a food career that started when he was just 10 years old.

From a quick bite to the best steak you’ve ever had, Depot Bar & Grill is sure to be a memorable dining experience, all in the heart of Springfield, Tennessee.

Springfield is known for its historic buildings that house new beginnings, and Depot is one of them. The building Depot operates out of was built in 1922. At the time, it was built for The Brick Storehouse, a grocery store created by Mr. Elliott in his own yard. In 1943, Mr Elliott’s son, Otto, took over and changed the store’s name to Elliott’s.

The building’s story goes on like this for a bit, with the business and building being sold to different owners, but groceries were what was always sold in it. That is, until Springifeld passed package liquor sales and a new building owner opened Depot Wine & Spirits. As you could imagine, it was quite popular!

Fast forward to January 2003, when Butch Watson and Patsy Jones renovated the historic building and opened Depot Bar & Grill. Just a few short months later, Doug Voise took over the business.

If you’ve been to the Depot, you’ve likely met Doug. He loves to greet each table and make visitors feel like family. But what you might not know is that Doug has been in the food service since he was 10 years old. His parents owned a restaurant in Arkansas, and the industry took hold of him and has never let go.

From fast food to fine dining, Doug has done it all. The Depot’s great assortment of menu items is a nod to the many places Doug has worked and learned from.

No matter what you’re in the mood for, it’s ready for you at the Depot Bar & Grill, and always paired with excellent service. Stop by and let us cook a great meal for you.
